KEY POINTS:
The mother of missing Jayden Headley is appealing against a judge's order that the family produce the six-year-old which has landed her in prison.
Kay Skelton is appealing Justice Heath's October 18 decision asking the family to bring Jayden to court by last Wednesday, the Waikato Times reported.
When they failed to do that or explain why, Skelton was jailed by Justice Keane, who told her lawyer David Jones the only way she could be released was if she told the court where Jayden was.
Police believe the boy is lying low with his grandfather, Dick Headley, 68, in the Northland region after a woman snatched Jayden from the central Hamilton library on August 18.
Mr Headley was one of several people ordered to either produce Jayden or tell the court why they could not. The others were Skelton's husband Brett, Jayden's grandmother Wendy Headley, great-grandmother Winifred Hart and another woman whose name is suppressed.
Skelton's appeal is expected to be heard in Auckland on November 8.
