KEY POINTS:
Jayden Headley's father Chris Jones said he was overjoyed at the news that his son had turned up after a five month kidnapping ordeal.
"I haven't seen him yet, but I'm making my way down to the Hamilton police station now."
He expected to be bringing his son home this afternoon. "There will be lots of hugs and kisses, and plenty of Christmas presents to hand over too."
"It's just fantastic news, I'm so pleased that Jayden is safe and well."
Just as he was walking out the door to make his way to Kay Skelton's depositions hearing for a charge of kidnapping, Mr Jones said he got a call from the police to say the hearing would be delayed.
"I thought there was something up then, and got quite excited. They (police) said they would get back in touch with me in a few minutes."
He said the ordeal over recent months had been extremely upsetting. "I've put on a brave face to the public, but behind the scenes it's been a whole different story."
There will be a press conference at 2pm at the police station, when Mr Jones said more time could be given to answering questions.
Jayden's uncle, Mark Jones, said that Chris Jones was overwhelmed by his son's return.
"I've had a text from Chris...Chris is emotional, Chris is ecstatic, Chris is over the moon," Mark Jones told Radio Live.
"I can't get words out of Chris -- he's so emotionally involved in this."
