KEY POINTS:
A man who went on the run for months after allegedly kidnapping his six-year-old grandson Jayden Headley is in Waikato Hospital with a heart complaint.
Dick Headley, 69, who has been charged with kidnapping, is reported by the Waikato Times to be in the hospital's cardiac unit in satisfactory condition.
Police spokeswoman Kris McGehan said police were aware of Headley's hospital admission.
When he returned the boy, Headley was taken into custody but later released under strict bail conditions.
A depositions hearing for Headley and his daughter Kay Skelton on the kidnapping charges is set down for September.
