A prison inmate who tried to take his ex-partner to the Tenancy Tribunal over unpaid rent has been knocked back because the pair's teenage daughter is also living with her in his house.
Nigel John Cunningham and Terryn McCormack had a daughter together but had broken up many years ago, long before Cunningham bought the house on Bluff Rd in Appleby, Invercargill.
The house had been rented out but in September 2018 Cunningham moved back in, according to tribunal documents published this month.
Around that time, Cunningham and McCormack got back together. She and their daughter moved in with him in October.
But the relationship was short-lived. Cunningham was sent to prison in January 2019 and in February McCormack broke up with him.
