The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it is in contact with a Jordanian New Zealander, Khalid Ziad Amine Shammout, who was sentenced to two years' hard labour by Lebanon's Military Tribunal.
The Daily Star newspaper in Beirut said seven men were accused of forming an armed group with the aim of conducting terrorist acts in Lebanon and weapons trafficking.
ABC News reports that one of the men is Jordanian-Australian Imad Farouk Bsiso, from New South Wales. He was jailed with Shammout and two Palestinians.
Three other men are still on the run and were sentenced in their absence. It is understood they are all Palestinians.
MFAT said consular advice and help had been extended to Shammout.
