A Masterton man has been warned to "prepare for the worst" after pleading guilty to stabbing a man in the neck with a sharp implement.
In Masterton District Court on Thursday, 28-year-old Rory James Wood entered a guilty plea to one charge of assault with intent to injure.
On April 8 Woods and the male victim had been drinking together at the victim's house.
When the victim asked Woods to leave so he could go to bed, Woods became angry and stabbed the man in the neck with a sharp implement, believed to be possibly scissors or a shard of glass.
The victim suffered a 1cm cut to his neck, over his jugular vein, and lost a significant amount of blood.
