KEY POINTS:
A suspended driver who drove on bare rims at 140km/h, hit trees and narrowly missed police cars during a high-speed chase for 70km across the Western Bay of Plenty has been jailed for 19 months.
Damon Clarke, 35, fled from police on May 31 last year after he was clocked driving at 126km/h north of Katikati.
On January 11 this year police clocked Clarke travelling on SH2 at 120km/h. He reached 150km/h before turning off the highway.
