It was a bad day for bungling burglar Trent Dawson White, left empty handed and pondering what became of honour among thieves.
First, three fridges he stole in Taupo fell off his truck on the winding road to Napier, where he had intended to sell them.
Worse still, when he arrived in Napier, someone made off with his truck and the rest of his fridges .
White was sentenced to two years in jail when he appeared in Taupo District Court today on a raft of offences.
He had removed whiteware to the value of $20,000 from an insecure Taupo construction site .
He forced the ignition of a Nissan flat deck truck, loaded the goods and headed to Napier.
Three fridges fell off the back of the truck "due to the load being insecure" the summary of facts recorded.
Police said "the defendant stated the vehicle was stolen from him in Napier before he could sell the whiteware".
