KEY POINTS:
An Auckland cafe is looking for a new name after discovering its name - Jafa - had been trademarked by a motel and winebar in Lawrence in Otago.
The trademark owners, former Aucklanders Mary Trifunovich and Philip Morrison saw red when they heard of the opening late last year of the Auckland Jafa Cafe, The Sunday Star Times reports.
They contacted the owners, brothers Tim and Jon Tohill and their mother Tosh Tohill saying they owned the trademark and the Tohills would have to change their cafe's name.
The Tohills laughed but then the legal letters started to arrive.
The Tohills are now asking patrons for suggestions for a new name.
