Young Opaki trainer Kylie Little will be lining up Za Brute in race 3, a Rating 65 for 3-year-olds over 1200m.
Little has great faith in this young gelding who has only been to the races on three occasions and showed real promise in his first two-start campaign.
Back fresh at Woodville in mid-March Za Brute needed the run, especially on top of the ground, beating only one of the 13 starters home but will be much better for the outing.
He is part-owned by Little's parents Steve and Sharne Little, who were once my hosts at the Lake Ferry Hotel and raced the dam Lady of the Lake.
James Wallace has Rapt in Gold in the same event, a gelding from a Lord Ballina mare who has had a single start finishing mid-field at Hawera last month.
Desert Saboteur went a surprisingly good race in fairly strong company at Tauherenikau in a 1000m scurry and trainer Frank Stammers will be hoping he can go on with it in race 4, over 1200m.
Eric the Viking is among his rivals but has been away from racing since the spring and it would be a major upset to punters if Aaron Bidlake manages to get him into the money first-up.
Bidlake has the very handy galloper Elusive Tracy in race 5, also resuming after a spell.
Wairarapa has no less than five runners in race 6, a maiden 1400.
On paper the best of them would appear to be Lill, from Alby MacGregor's barn.
Lill has mixed her form but put in a handy performance to finish fourth at Tauherenikau and could be one for odds, although with the winter season nearly upon us anything can basically happen in a maiden.
Two worth watching will be the Bidlake-trained Bella Carolina in race 7 and James Phillips' charge Jabez in the last.
Bella Carolina is fresh but has a touch of class about her and Jabez went a slasher at Awapuni back in February.
The crowd favourite for the day as far as Wairarapa enthusiasts are concerned will be the evergreen Titch, trained out of the district by Kevin Myers at Wanganui but owned by Jim and Margaret Wallace of Ardsley Stud fame in Masterton.
This tough 7-year-old gelding never gives up and although he found it a struggle at Ellerslie last time, is ready to bounce back and snatch victory in race 2.
