Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater has lost a High Court appeal against his conviction for breaching suppression orders.
The blogger maintains name suppression laws in New Zealand need to change, publishing the identities of well known people in trouble with the law.
Cameron Slater says the decision came through via an email from the judge.
He says it doesn't really come as a surprise.
"I don't think the judiciary like being upset or being asked to comment on the validity of ruling," he says.
Mr Slater says he'll decide today with his lawyer what his next course of action will be.
