Ivy Jane Cabunilas, 33, was attending an English class at King's Education in the CTV building when the earthquake struck.
Originally from Consolacion in the Philippines, Ivy was living in New Zealand with her husband and twin 11-year-old daughters.
In an interview with the Cebu Daily News after the earthquake, Ivy's mother-in-law said she was processing a visa to fly to New Zealand to be by her son's side.
"The twins can't stop crying. [They] keep saying, 'mummy is still there unconscious'," she said.
