anderson's Meats Wairarapa United are expecting no favours from Marist Wellington in their Capital Soccer premier division match at Kilburnie Park, Wellington tomorrow.
Marist might be languishing second to bottom on the points table but third placed Wairarapa United have found them awkward in the past and coach Phil Keinzley is anticipating no different on this occasion.
"They (Marist) generally grow another leg at home??.they see Kilburnie Park as their fortress and they are never easy to beat there," he said.
Keinzley sees Marist adopting an "in your face" approach on both attack and defence as they are a side renowned for their physical style of play and he will be asking his side to stay patient and rely on a structured brand of soccer to provide a victory.
"We can't allow them to frustrate us, we have to focus on what we are doing," he said.
"We have more skill and natural flair than them and it's just a case of waiting for that to pay dividends."
Keinzley has been pleased with the enthusiasm shown by his players at training over the past couple of weeks with the aim of earning promotion po the central league next season still very much on their minds.
For that to happen they have to finish at least first or second on the points table and Keinzley is confident that will happen with one proviso?.they can't afford to lose any more games.
"If we can keep winning between now and the end of the season we will do it, and we are capable of doing that," he said.
Missing from the Wairarapa United line-up tomorrow will be Carl Shailer who is on the injured list and Pita Rabo, who is also recovering from injury but could be given a run for the Wairarapa United seconds in their Capital third division game against Waterside-Karoro at Newlands Park.
Meanwhile, Keinzley has apologised for having criticised a local line umpire in a radio interview after a recent premier division game because he appreciates the time and effort such officials put into the sport.
"What happened was that I let my frustrations get the better of me and I'm sorry for that," he said.
"It's one of those things, you say something and then you regret later that you went that far."
It?s uphill all the way for United
