The Conservative candidate whose campaign trailer promoted party leader Colin Craig all day in a 30-minute parking space has been fined $30.
Auckland Transport official Wally Thomas said today parking wardens checked on the trailer, owned by New Lynn candidate Steve Taylor, and issued three infringement notices yesterday when it was parked on the road in the Titirangi village shopping area. Each fine was greater than the last as the trailer's time over the limit grew.
"Trailers don't have a windscreen so there's nowhere to stick a ticket. It's been posted to him."
The $30 fine is for exceeding the parking limit by more than two hours and less than four hours.
Mr Taylor said, "... being subject to the rule of law like everyone else, I will be happy to pay the fine."
