Organisers of the National Boat Show at Mystery Creek, near Hamilton, have added some on-the-water action to the programme. For the last two days of the event jet-skis, wakeboarders and Thundercats will be giving demonstrations on the Waikato River on the boundary of the exhibition site. The show runs from August 27 to September 1. Details on www.nationalboatshow.co.nz
Italians again
There's another Italian boatbuilder targeting the New Zealand market. The last Weekend Marine feature looked at the launch of the Ferretti range here. The Auckland company Yachtfinders-global represents Azimut in this country and exhibited a 46ft model at the On-the-Water Boat Show in March. The company builds motor cruisers from 39ft to 55ft and motor yachts from 62ft to 100ft. In 1985 the company bought the Benetti shipyard which builds highly successful 115ft GRP superyachts as well as bigger models in steel.
Magic contest
Team New Zealand supporter Line 7 is about to launch a competition that will give a shopper and partner what the clothing manufacturer is calling One Magic Day with our America's Cup defenders. Starting in August, Line 7 outlets throughout New Zealand will be accepting entries for the promotion with a prize that includes a day on the water with TNZ on the Black Boat, TNZ gear and dinner with grinder and Olympic gold medal rower Rob Waddell.
