There were no top-team changes at the annual general meeting of the M-Class Association as the club's 80th-anniversary year activity is confirmed. Dave Bush (chairman), Eric Mahoney (vice-chairman), Stewart Morley (secretary), Neil Bassett (racing secretary) and Gordon McLean (publicity) were all re-elected. Dave Spencer moves into the treasurer's spot. A class get-together is being organised for November as a lead-up to the 1939 18-footer re-enactment regatta and the M-Class anniversary championships, which will run from January 25 to February 3. A meeting in two weeks will allocate responsibilities for organising the regatta.
On-line show
The American company BoatTEST Publishing has launched a megasite for those seeking to buy new or used boats and engines, gear, accessories and services. "Worldsgreatestboatshow.com provides a single venue that will have more visitors than any boat show in the world," says publisher Chris Kelly. The site includes video boat tests and live product demonstrations.
Growth continues
Finnboat, the Federation of Finnish Marine Industries, says member companies are forecasting a domestic sales increase of more than 7.5 per cent for this year and a jump in export sales of 25 per cent. That adds up to domestic sales worth $232 million and exports of $370 million. Finnboat says the level of sales is up on last year because of a big rise in the number of super yachts completed or due to be launched before the end of the year.
