The Boating Industries Association has confirmed next year's On-the-Water Boat Show will be held at the end of March. With 80 yachts and launches moored in the Viaduct Harbour, the fourth annual exhibition last month pleased exhibitors and the public, says show organiser, BIA executive director Peter Busfield. Putting a group of marine service and equipment marketers on a big barge rather than land-based marquees also proved a winner. This feature will be expanded next year.
Mirror appeal
The Takapuna Boating Club's appeal through last week's Tidelines column for additional Mirror dinghies has yielded strong leads. The club uses the 1960s British-designed yachts for an adult sail-training programme. Club secretary Janet Garrett hopes to add at least two more Mirrors to the fleet.

The United States sailing industry trade association, Sail America, has a free video to get more Americans into sailboats.
