Established British company Camper & Nicholson has entered into a partnership deal with Newcruise Yacht Project and Design of Hamburg to provide a support service in Germany. The first collaboration is on the development of a 190-tonne classic 34m motor yacht designed by Frank Neubolt and Rolan Kreuger of Newcruise. The hull of the long-range vessel, which will have a cruising speed of 11 knots, is in steel and the superstructure is aluminium.
MAATS sell-out
The American Marine Aftermarket Accessories Trade Show (MAATS), set for Las Vegas in June, is a sell-out. The 296 exhibitor booths allocated for the show at Caesars Palace have been taken up by more than 200 accessories companies.
New race series
Honda UK has launched a new racing series for 4.6m boats with 50hp motors. The series complements the 6.4m, 130hp single-class series that is becoming oversubscribed. Honda brand manager Martin Oliver says the aim is to provide a low-cost entry into European powerboat racing.
Iridium again
The Virginia-based Iridium satellite company has announced a gateway is now fully operational at Tempe, Arizona, enabling the delivery of global voice telephone services to marine users. A data service, including internet connection, will be available in June.
