The Boating Industry Training Organisation has been busy following the Weekend Herald Marine "Filling the Jobs Gap" feature last month. Hundreds of calls have been made to the 0800 600 242 jobs line, from carpenters, builders, electricians and other tradespeople interested in switching to the marine industry. So far more than 140 information packs have been sent out.
Show expands
The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from May 24 to 27 has expanded to cope with growing demand. Already more than 200 exhibitors have signed up and the organisers are confident of beating last year's total of 316. This year, a brokerage section will be sited 2km upstream from Sanctuary Cove at Gold Coast City Marina. A rail/shuttle park/shuttle will run between the two venues.
