KEY POINTS:
A painting by Maori activist Tame Iti sold at auction in Wellington for $1450 on Saturday.
Iti did the acrylic painting as part of a series titled Tuhoe got the Blues after being arrested during last month's nationwide police raids into the running of so-called weapons training camps in the Ureweras.
Iti, one of 16 people arrested, is facing 11 firearms related charges.
He donated the painting to Wellington's only Maori language immersion school, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Nga Mokopuna, in suburban Seatoun.
An auction attendee said bidding for the painting was "very spirited".
It was bought by man called "Emilio", who did not want to comment or give his last name.
