KEY POINTS:
Christmas is just around the corner and in these tough economic times you need to be a little creative to make ends meet.
Some people do it by getting something like a Chrisco hamper so, as I am off on holiday for a couple of weeks during Christmas and much of the food in my kitchen may go off, I have decided to start a Christmas hamper of my own.
It's called Leigh's Big Christmas Hamper.
How do you win Leigh's Big Christmas Hamper?
It is simple. All you have to do is write a 750 to 800-word Christmas-themed column that's worthy of me publishing as my own, in next week's Herald on Sunday. Send it to me, not the editor, at leighhart@xtra.
co.nz.
The best column will win the hamper and the runner-up may be published the following week.
What do you get in the hamper?
That's a very good question and I am really glad that you asked it.
Food: In the hamper you will get everything in the fridge - even the soft cheese - plus we will throw in the loaf of bread which is out of shot, absolutely free of charge. (Fridge is not included, and the level of some jars may vary from those seen in photo).
Drink: What is Christmas without a few drinks in the hot sun? The winner of the Christmas hamper will also receive this five-pack of Speight's Summit Ales. Take it from me, they are fantastic. (The barbecue they are sitting on is not included).
Puppy: They say a puppy is not just for Christmas but in this case it definitely is. You will get to look after and walk this cute dog on Christmas Day (Boxing Day is negotiable).
Call him what you like, and let the kids experience the fun of having a real puppy for a day without you having to pick dog crap off your lawn for the other 364 days a year. With that in mind, it is not a good idea to feed the dog the soft cheese from the fridge.
Warning: He has a tendency to hump your leg if you are wearing thick-seamed corduroy pants.
Sony video camera moments: No Christmas is complete without capturing those special Christmas moments and mine are probably better than yours.
The winner gets to watch my last Christmas, which was filmed on this video camera. (You can hang on to the tape but the camera is not included). DVD: You will also get Moon TV series 5 the DVD. Also available at moontv.co.nz, at the CD and DVD store and the Warehouse. Good luck.
