An Israeli inmate at the centre of a dispute has died at Upper Hutt's Rimutaka Prison .
Aviv Atias, 28, had been on life support in Hutt Hospital after being taken there on Saturday.
His brother, Nic Atias, who arrived from Israel on Monday to be by his bedside, said his family were devastated by the death.
The Parole Board had refused to grant Atias a compassionate release.
His death will be investigated by the Corrections' inspectorate.
