A police officer in South Carolina used a Taser on a cow wandering along a road. Two zaps later, the cow's owner still couldn't corral the animal. Police spent several hours chasing the cow in and out of traffic before giving up the pursuit. Last January, the same officer used his Taser to rescue a woman from an aggressive billy goat.

A Dutchman used World War II hand grenades as ornaments in his house, without realising they were dangerous. Heimen van der Wal, from Makkum, kept the grenades on his mantelpiece for decades after discovering them in woods as a child. "We thought they were harmless," said his wife, Marjan. "Our children have even played with them." Last week, he showed them to a friend who immediately realised the danger. An army spokesman said the pin on one of the antique grenades was so rusty, any sudden movement could have caused an explosion. (Source: Ananova.com)
