Cabbies outdo Google
Taxi drivers should know their cities and so, according to Fast Company, Microsoft has found a way to pick cabbies' brains in China. They collected GPS data from 33,000 cabs and, the researchers say, the routes produced by their system are faster than 60 per cent of those suggested by Google Maps - saving about five minutes, on average, on what would otherwise be a 30-minute drive.
Not drinking but still busted
Officials at Ohio's Cardinal High School suspended cheerleader Bree Vargo for two games after they found a Facebook photograph of her holding a beer bottle at a family wedding. Bree's mother says she wasn't drinking beer, but school officials say that doesn't matter, even holding a beer violates the school's no-alcohol policy.
