KEY POINTS:
Sophie Foster bought a fancy ant killer kit with a tiny refill of liquid ant killer. She filled her own plastic container (right) with it and set up a disposable bait dispenser (left) from the kit as well. The results speak for themselves.

Karl was fortunate enough to be at Eden Park on Saturday to watch the magnificence that was the All Blacks. But one thing troubled him: "Either side of me there were a bunch of yellow jerseys and early in the game all we could hear was 'Once a jolly swagman' or 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. Oi! Oi! Oi!'. When we go to an England match, it's the same. The crowd erupts into 'Swing low, sweet chariot ... ' So New Zealand, where's our chant? We all want to break into song to show support for the All Blacks and "go black!" is too short. I call on any business, rugby board or individual wealthy enough to employ an ad agency to come up with a simple and catchy chant we can adopt so we can spontaneously break out in, and drown out Waltzing Matilda, and let us all know. In time for the World Cup please."

A quick note of thanks to the Auckland City Council for doing its best to improve my love life, writes Peter. "Those yellow corrugated slide pads on the footpaths at intersections are a godsend. All a single guy has to do is wait a few minutes for the next attractive female to slip over and then rush to her assistance. So far I have scored four cellphone numbers, a free coffee and a slap around the chops from a very tall lady with an Adam's apple on K Rd."

One group who love the motorway on-ramp lights - motorcyclists. "We can filter past all the stationary cars to the front of the queue," writes Lou Girardin, "then use our vastly superior acceleration to build a nice safe gap behind us and merge easily with the traffic. Thanks Transit."

Two lovers were rescued as they drifted out to sea after a romantic marriage proposal in a dinghy. Colin Howell, 35, enjoyed a champagne picnic with his girlfriend, Miriam Light, 26, before setting out from Cromer in Norfolk to pop the question. The alarm was raised on Friday night after the boat was seen more than 1 1/2 km from the beach in windy conditions. The couple, dressed in full evening wear, were rescued by a fishing boat.
