KEY POINTS:
Many people don't know where to stand at a bus stop, says Simon Jansen. This picture is a typical scene. "You note the stop taking up more than half the available footpath. Also the nearest side is always covered in advertising, meaning you can't see through the stop itself. As soon as there is more than one stop in a row the view down the road is blocked. Also note the clump of people all standing on the footpath at the point at which it is narrowest." No one seemed to realise they were blocking the way, even though pedestrians had to walk on the road to get past them, says Simon.

The Church of England has included tips on how to have an enjoyable sex life in a new guide on marriage for its parishioners. The 120-page handbook, titled Growing Together, offers couples advice on married life and encourages them to talk about their "turn-ons and turn-offs". "Sex, far from being naughty, is something holy and wonderful and something to be celebrated," the guide says, according to extracts printed by the Sun newspaper. "Like any other skill, it has to be learned ... be each other's teacher." More mundane topics covered by the guide include how to divide up household chores and dealing with money issues and funerals.

A reader was wondering if anyone else noticed the mixed messages in the current season of Mitre 10 Dream Home. "The teams are going to great lengths to impress the judges with their environmentally friendly building practices by recycling old timber, putting a timer switch on the heated towel rail and even forgoing a clothes dryer. But did anyone consider the environmental impact of this week's prize of $5000 of plastic toys _ undoubtedly coming soon to a landfill near you."

Am I the only one irritated by the introduction of "freshness seals" on plastic milk bottles? asks a disgruntled reader. "Not only are they pointless _ milk is fresh because it's fresh, not because it's sealed _ but the foil seals add to the environmental impact in both their manufacture and disposal. What possessed Anchor et al to come up with this?"

One good deed deserves another: Susie Milne was walking on Takapuna beach the other morning and found a silver bracelet. "I know, I know ... you are not a lost and found column but I really want to find the owner as I am sure it has sentimental value. The bracelet obviously belongs to a young girl, possibly called Mez, bears an inscription, and is from her mum and dad." If the owner is reading this, email Susie with the inscription at sue.milne@xtra.co.nz.
