A British employment lawyer has come up with a safety suggestion for office Christmas parties. Jonathan Whitaker says much grief will be avoided if mobile phone cameras are banned from the celebrations to prevent photographs of workers misbehaving being posted on the internet.

Fifteen Victorian firefighters went to a property near Bendigo after reports of a strong smell of gas. But when they arrived they discovered the source of the gassy smell was a flatulent 120kg sow. Fire captain Peter Harkins said: "It was very obvious where the gas was coming from. We could not only smell it, but we heard it." (Source: ABC News)

Joao Martins went to the Grey Lynn Park Festival on Saturday and saw a stall called "Brasileirinho" or Little Brazilian, in green and yellow like the Brazilian flag. "As a Brazilian living in New Zealand I immediately thought I was going to make my afternoon by having some traditional Brazilian food, but to my surprise (and disappointment) they were selling beans and mince tortillas and beef quesadillas - in fact, Mexican food."

A driving school in Lincolnshire, England called "L" on Wheels! Oldie but a goodie - fast-food outlet, Gobels Gobble and Go. Newer examples: The Battered Fish, Sticky Fingers, Snack Attack, and in Pukekohe a truck with the words Crook Builder.

A reader writes: "I lived in Taiwan in the early 90s, and a few names and slogans were so inspired that they have stayed with me all these years. I rode a brand of motorcycle called 'Feel Big', and I could admire other bikes with the legend "we reach for the sky, neither does civilisation" on the gas tank. The best was a lingerie shop, 'Clitoria'."
