Bruce Knox of Blockhouse Bay snapped this direction sign which had just been placed on New Windsor Rd, Mt Roskill, directing motorists to Sandringham.
"It looks as though Sandringham has suffered the same fate from the sign makers as Wanganui, as it is missing a letter."

Pupils at a Chinese school are being encouraged to attack punchbag dummies of their teachers to relieve stress. Lichang First Middle School in Jinan attached pictures of teachers to sandbags and gave pupils boxing gloves.
Vice-principal Meng Fanxiang, whose own picture is being used, said: "Adolescent students may have a lot of problems and be under great pressure from studies. It's better for them to release it within the school than other places." The school says mostly boys prefer to relieve stress in this way. (Source: Ananova.com)

Megan Wildermoth, a displaced but loyal Kiwi living in Surrey, writes: "I know Aussies like to claim all great New Zealand things as their own, but this is going a bit too far even for them! I took this outrageous boast at an Aussie bar in Paris this weekend - it almost amounts to a major diplomatic incident."

It's a pity Tournament Parking's generosity, in offering an alternative to Wilson's after their price hike, didn't extend to warning users of their Howe St carpark that they were planning a sneaky price hike of their own over the weekend. "I arrived in the rain this morning with my handful of coins only to find the $9 I usually paid only covered me till around 2.30pm. After scrambling around on the floor of the car, I finally managed to find the extra dollar. Nice one Tournament."

Keri says: "If you don't mind the risk of having to pay $150 to get your car unclamped when the machines are faulty and don't print out a ticket, Tournament Parking would be a great alternative to Wilson's. I paid for my parking and didn't get a ticket. I tried to phone the operator - no joy - so left a note saying how much I paid and when I paid but still got clamped. No attempt was made to check to see if I did pay at that time or at least refund my $8 for the carpark."
