The organisers of NZ Book Month have sold around 500 T-shirts which are being worn by bookshop employees and librarians featuring the logo which is an end-on view of a book and its fanning pages. However, they've had feedback from some high school librarians indicating some confusion, including this one: "My library assistant and I have been wearing our NZ Book Month T-shirts proudly since yesterday. We have also decorated the library with the same palms as printed on the front. I have lost track of the number of students who have asked me "Miss, is it National Weed Day?" While watching Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old? on TV2 last night Danielle van Rossum was amused by the following question: Which of the following is the verb? a- run, b- runner, c- fast, d- faster. "Of course the contestant answered correctly that A was indeed a verb, however I would have liked to have seen what would have happened had she chosen to answer C, which although obviously not the intended answer is still in fact a verb - as in to fast, or starve oneself. It would have made my night to have seen Dominic Bowden try to cover up that embarrassing realisation."

Wayne Boniface, 69, and his wife Kathie returned to their home in Duluth, Minnesota, last week to find a burglar in their house. "As soon as he grabbed my wife, I had him in the kitchen wrestling him to the ground in a head-lock and arm-lock," Boniface said. Boniface said he ripped the man's shirt off. Then, "his head was down over the railing, and in today's world, pants are worn fairly loose. I pulled his pants, and his pants and underpants and shoes came completely off. He was completely nude". A reader writes: "In regards to the Vodafone customer profile not accepting Hamilton as a city, one of my co-workers was having a similar problem. It would not accept Rotorua, or Hamilton. That is when someone suggested the website was probably created in India. Amazingly, Vodafone New Zealand accepts Delhi as an NZ city."
