KEY POINTS:
Sideswipe yesterday featured Constable Bob Molloy, a cardboard cut-out cop in Britain. It turns out that Constable Molloy is not alone, reports Heddi Goodrich of Avondale.
"My husband and I were recently travelling in the southwest US when we noticed a police car parked on the side of the road in Kanab, Utah. No doubt an officer on the lookout for speedsters. Hours later when we drove past again, the police officer was still there, in the stifling heat with the windows rolled up! We pulled over to take a closer look and saw why ... "

Sideswipe has received more nominations for dodgy law firm names following the Shaidy & Co sign on Saturday. We rejected one for Maim, Blame and Claim (personal injury attorneys) as simply too good to be true, even though it came with a photo.
But we liked this one from Auckland lawyer Philip Wood, who writes: "A friend has just started work at an English law firm called Wright Hassall."

The Queen has been named as one of the world's most glamorous women by Vogue magazine.
The fashion bible includes the 81-year-old monarch, with models Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, in its 50-strong "Definitive List of Today's Glamorous Women".
It praises the Queen for being "as glamorous in her brogues and headscarf in Balmoral as she is wearing the crown jewels". She is regarded as a trendsetter with as much influence in the world of fashion as Moss, a TopShop designer, and Campbell, who famously left her final day of community service in New York dressed in a silver, floor-length gown.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Queen has frequently been applauded for her classic take on fashion. When Dame Helen Mirren donned wax jacket and wellies last year to play the monarch in the film The Queen, she reportedly sparked a run on Barbours in the US.

Bayfield schoool manager Shona Hewitt replies to yesterday's item about the Herne Bay centre's request for children not to come in demonic or ghoulish costumes or superhero outfits for a dress-up day on Halloween.
"Since we opened eight years ago, we have always actively discouraged parents from dressing up their children in superhero outfits for a day at preschool as it seems to promote aggressive behaviour. For this reason, we feel quite okay about this restriction on dress-up day. Anyway, regardless of the comments made by the disgruntled author, the staff, teachers and children had an awesome day, as can be seen in the photos on our blogsite bayfieldeec.blogspot.com. Have a look and judge for yourself."
