Officials in the Croatian town of Belica have started work on a park dedicated to the humble potato. It will include a potato-theme play park for children and have swings and slides shaped like potatoes. There will be a potato monument and information about different spuds. Ryan Maxwell writes: "On Saturday night, I was on my way from Auckland to Hamilton by motorcycle for a 21st. I stopped at the Huntly Shell to refuel, as the bike can only go about 150km per tank. Then my heart sank - I'd left my Eftpos card at home. I was stranded in Huntly at night with not enough gas to make it to Hamilton, not enough to make it back to Auckland, and no one around I knew to help me out. I saw a kind-looking gentleman who had just refuelled his car and asked him if he could lend me $10. He went to his car and came back with $10 cash. It truly made my evening ... and reaffirmed my belief in the kindness of strangers."
