This unfortunately named restaurant in Singapore was given a wide berth by Gary Bridger of Greenlane.
Super expensive, actually
Mother-in-law failed her WOF because of a tail light bulb, so went to Super Cheap Auto to get replacement, explains a reader. "Friendly staff member who was outside the store came over and struck up a conversation with her, SHE removed the bulb (very capable) and the staff member said he would get the replacement for her. Even though Mother-in-law said she could do it herself, he took the bulb out of the packet and said he would do it for her; cue nice smile. When she went to pay, however, WHAM! That will be $13 for the bulb ... and $5 for the fitting fee! Yes, there is a sign outlining the charge for fitting, A4 size above the door as you exit! Go figure."
Short of laughs
Strange news in brief:
1) At the 15th International Clown Convention in Mexico City, when the 700 attendees set out to break the world record for the number of them laughing continuously, they could giggle for only 15 minutes, falling five minutes short.
2) Fears about promoting the darker side of Halloween to pupils at a Church of England school has led to them renaming their children's disco the Scary Costume Party. Monkton School's Parent Teacher Association originally promoted its half-term party as Halloween, but PTA members changed it and put out new posters.
Hearing difficulty
Wanted ... the owner of a pair of expensive hearing aids. They were found on the veranda at the Colombine Bar at Harlequin, Pt Chevalier on Sunday afternoon (October 17). It was noisy inside so maybe the owner came outside for a bit of quiet, put the aids down and then forgot to retrieve them. If they are yours, please contact Harlequin on 09-8152105.
Burger treat
Trevor Rowse rang BurgerWisconsin in Remuera to order his favourite avocado chicken burger and was surprised to be asked if he was the same Trevor who had been in about 10 days earlier. The alert staff remembered a Trevor had left his glasses there that day and were happy to produce them. "Service above and beyond. The burgers were too," he says.
