Ken Laurence, who got this flyer in his letterbox on Glenvar Rd, Torbay, is a bit confused about Marxist-Thatcherism and wonders what the TRA's Super City stance is. "Should we be worried about a rogue-state on the edge of Auckland?"

Two wrongs do make a right, according to Trevor Mallard, who said, over the Wainuiomata motel ban, "It's stupid and very, very unfair. It shows the sort of blind prejudice I thought we didn't have in New Zealand any more. I'm not surprised the [owner's] Australian." And that's not prejudice?

A new pro-al Qaeda English-language magazine's first edition contains, among other things, workout tips for Muslims planning violent jihad. The magazine advises supporters to keep in shape so they can "strike hard" against their enemies. It also warns against visiting "un-Islamic" Western gyms with "music, semi-naked women, free mixing and the danger of showing off". The advice is contained in Jihad Recollections, purporting to be published in Charlotte, North Carolina.

You think the Canadians are uptight about their casual dress code," says a reader. "I work for a large NZ law firm. Here's an excerpt from our dress code for 'casual' Fridays: "For men, this means dress trousers, a shirt with a collar (shirt tucked in), and proper shoes ... While it is appreciated that women have greater flexibility in their dress, the standard should be the same. Smart casual clothing for women means tailored trousers or skirts, shirts or tailored tops and proper shoes (dress sandals are permitted in summer). Jackets are recommended. The casual clothes policy excludes the wearing of ... jeans, T-shirts, singlets, shorts, sweatshirts, track pants, stretch pants/leggings, sneakers or athletic shoes, jandals/scuffs and revealing clothing."

A reader writes ... "I'm paying off my student loan and, having made a large voluntary repayment, I wanted the IRD to calculate this new voluntary repayment bonus announced to come into effect from April 1. But IRD told me it wasn't actually enshrined in law. Misleading advertising, IRD! The Government press release says nothing to indicate it's not law yet, only: 'The Government will make changes to the student loan scheme act as a priority so the bonus can be given full effect.' So, must I wait until April 2010 to have my bonus calculated, 11 months after paying it?"
