A reader declares: "There have been no windfall apples, tomatoes, peaches, passion fruits, plums nor nectarines in our garden. Why? Because the dog, a beagle, is a fruit fiend and sits in the shade waiting for meals to drop. She's been caught red-pawed in the fig tree, and frequently checks out the strawberries. She also likes socks but hates citrus fruit. We've fenced the avocados but can't fence everything. Do we just wait for winter and enjoy our fat beagle as she is, or does someone have a useful idea on how to help?"

Schools in Britain are reportedly placing pupils as young as 5 on such lists if they are caught using racist or homophobic language. 2) At a Chattanooga high school, two female students got into a fight, and when a teacher tried to break it up, one of the students assaulted her. A school resource officer tried to Taser that student but missed and accidentally Tasered a third student who was trying to help the teacher. (Source: Reason.com)
