Kung-Fu action hero Jackie Chan warned any protesters planning to stop him carrying the Olympic torch that he will come out fighting. The Hong Kong hard man is due to carry the torch when it nears Beijing, the venue for this summer's Olympic Games. The 54-year-old claims many of the protesters are simply publicity seekers. "They are doing it for no reason. They just want to show off on the TV. They know, 'If I can get the torch, I can go on the TV for the world news'." Chan said this while speaking at the launch of his latest movie, Forbidden Kingdom. (Source: Metro.co.uk)

Neil Proten writes: "Whatever order TVNZ does its listings, at least it provides a better service to viewers than the TV3 website. TV3 lists only its own shows; it doesn't even have those of sister channel C4. As well as TV3 and C4, TVNZ has the listings for Sky-owned, free-to-air channel Prime. Good on TVNZ: I certainly wouldn't expect to see the listings of a rival's shows if I visited one of the other broadcasters' websites."

A reader writes: "To all those kind and generous motorists, including bus drivers, who felt it necessary to honk and wave arms rather than assist my sister when her Toyota Surf broke down 5cm from railway tracks in the rain in New Lynn yesterday afternoon, I would like to say thanks - for nothing. It would be obvious to anyone that this was an accident. Not one person stopped to assist her or ask her if she was OK or needed assistance. Having trains whistle past her so closely was a very stressful time, one that would have been made much easier if someone had bothered to help. What if it had been your mother or grandmother or wife?"
