A kilt wearer was stunned when bosses at his favourite pub told him he couldn't wear his kilt. Paul Robson no longer drinks in the Blackie Boy, in Newcastle, where he has enjoyed a pint for 17 years. Robson has Scottish relatives and has worn his kilt every Friday night for two years. But managers at the Blackie Boy banned him because it has a "smart dress code" and says kilts are fancy dress. Josh from West Auckland saw one of TelstraClear's new ads featuring a deal for mobile phones. "I phoned, but a cheerful tow-truck driver answered and told me he'd been fielding calls all day. Ironic a telecommunications company would forget its number."

Let the parodies begin: Labour Party faithful are quick to parody National's billboard ("Wave goodbye to higher taxes - Not your loved ones"), but none of them yet have the bite to worry National. Ironically the best one, suggested through the comments on left-inclined blog The Standard, was one for National: "Wave goodbye to your loved ones - because we won't finance Herceptin".

Another security non threat: Kat recently flew down to Wellington and back up to Auckland. "When I looked at my hand luggage I realised I got through both airports with sharp tweezers, razor blades and worst of all, pepper spray!" she confesses.

Kit McLean says Ryan Stev must be driving a fast car if he thinks idling for 12 minutes uses as much fuel as 30 seconds of driving ... "A quick Google seems to reveal that an average car idling for two minutes will use around the same amount of fuel as driving 1.6km. So that's 9.6km for 12 minutes of idling. Apparently Mr Stev can cover this in 30 seconds averaging an astounding 1152km/h!"

Mercury Energy clears up a few things about orange flames: "We would like to reassure gas users that a yellow or orange hob flame is most commonly due to pipe blockages or incorrect air settings. This is not dangerous but customers should contact a registered gas fitter, who will identify and correct the problem. Carbon monoxide, while it is odourless, is accompanied by other emissions that may produce a 'car exhaust' smell or watery eyes."
