Getting high on dessert
A shop in Santa Cruz, California, is selling icecream infused with extract of marijuana. Customers with "medical marijuana" prescriptions can buy Creme De Canna, Bananabis Foster or Straw-Mari Cheesecake, at US$15 a half-pint - one bite is equal to five puffs of "really good" weed, according to the proprietor. Language barrier
After four days of watching water flowing at the rate of about 300 litres an hour from a leaking fire hydrant in Wairoa Rd, Devonport, Martin Foster rang Watercare Services. "I was put on to a foreign-speaking lady and as I endeavoured to give the precise co-ordinates of the offending hydrant, it appeared impossible for this employee to understand my pronunciation of the word Wairoa. Feeling my blood pressure rising, I hung up. Two weeks later the hydrant is still spilling thousands of litres down the drain."
Nations row over map
When Costa Rica complained that Nicaraguan troops were camped on its territory, the Nicaraguan commander pointed to a Google map that showed the troops were entitled to be there and refused to move them. Google has acknowledged there was a mistake but Nicaragua has asked that the map be left as is, reports the New York Daily News. (Source: Newser.com)
Banks and their charges
"I got charged $2 by ASB for just looking at one of my bill payment addresses," declares a reader. "Didn't change anything. Like lots of banks, they want you to reduce over-the-counter activities but then charge you for helping them." Another reader, Ian, says he paid some money to a wrong account by mistake. "It's only $129 but ASB won't recover it because I notified them 120 days after the event. I've complained to their complaints department and heard nothing. It seems they're happy to condone someone benefiting from someone else's error."
