To the point
In Whangaparaoa they give you a kicking (pictured, right) if you don't obey the parking rules.
Plane crazy
Strange requests airline cabin crew have heard...
* "Please, can you open the window?"
* "Can you show me to the showers?"
* "Can you take my children to the playroom?"
* "Could you turn the engines down because they are too noisy?"
* "Is there a McDonald's onboard?"
* "Please can the captain stop the turbulence?' (Source: Survey of Virgin Atlantic staff)
When it comes to the crunch...
Mark Boyack writes: "On the back of Sanitarium's Weetbix Crunchy Honey Bites packages, they proudly state that they are "one of the few companies that's still 100 per cent locally owned" (top score for supporting the local economy) and then go on to score huge greeny points for "sourcing ingredients and making products on a local level to help minimise their impact on the environment". Sanitarium, thanks for looking out for us. On the bottom of the box, "Made and packed in Australia". (presumably to help maximise their impact on the environment?)"
Wrong sort of feedback
A reader writes: "Greenstone Energy Ltd (formerly Shell) called our offices looking for feedback regarding a call logged to their call centre," writes a reader. "Our staff member said she was unimpressed that no one answered the call or responded to her subsequent email. The Colmar Brunton employee then told her she couldn't talk to her about her experience as she needed feedback from people who had actually spoken to the call centre."
Let it go
Charlotte Grace thinks instead of putting a blowfly in the fridge (where it could lay eggs on your food) and then when stupefied by the cold, pull the wings off and watch it drown in a bowl of water, as Gary suggested, why not just open a window, grab the nearest paper, book or magazine and shoo the fly out?
