Donnelle took a snap for her Army-mad husband of this Unimog and field artillery. "Out of curiosity, and since the licence plate was legible, I decided to look it up on carjam.co.nz to see if it had a price indication. It said: "The COF expired 2 months 2 weeks 6 days ago on 3rd September 2010. Last COF inspection did not pass." Huh?
Bar service hard to swallow
"Getting a drink at the Robin Williams show at Vector Arena on Saturday night was a horrendous way to start a great evening," writes Brenda. "First we had to queue for 20 minutes, then there was the limited wine choice of a chardonnay, merlot or bubbly. We patiently waited while it took four people to load new paper in the till. But to top it all off when I asked for a glass of chardonnay, the barman asked 'is that red or white?' There were only 7000 to 8000 people at this event - how are we going to cope next year with the Rugby World Cup?"
Bikeway too big for buses
Transport officials in Sydney have stopped bus service to six stops on a route through Woolloomooloo because a new City of Sydney Council bikeway is so wide two buses are unable to pass each other. The agency that runs the buses - as well as residents - had warned the city this would happen. (Source: the Daily Telegraph)
Thanks, officer
Steve writes: "Last week, while on a road trip I found myself in Melbourne rush-hour. Having never been to Melbourne before, and unable find a map, I found myself in four lanes of inching traffic in the onramp to the Westgate Bridge. Spotting a police officer on a motorcycle, I rolled the window down and asked if I was on the right road for Docklands. The officer stopped three lanes of traffic, got me to drive on to the traffic island, gave me directions, then stopped two lanes of traffic in the other direction so I could carry on my way, under the bridge rather than over it."
Brown makes recession pay
Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was paid about £60,000 ($124,000) for his first gig on the international speaking circuit. Brown was a keynote speaker at a summit in New Delhi, where he gave a 50-minute speech on the global economic crisis and how to prevent another one. Critics have questioned if he was the right person to lecture on how to prevent a future crisis since he could not prevent the worst UK recession in a generation. (Source: Mail Online)
