What a coincidence #1: "While visiting Blarney Castle, Ireland, in the 90s with my brother and his wife, I waited outside while they went to the toilet. A couple approached and the woman said, 'Good morning'. I said, 'You're from New Zealand'. 'Yes, from Waiheke ...' 'Me too.' Then my brother appeared and said, 'Hi so-and-so, fancy meeting you here'. It turned out we were the only five visitors at the castle that day ... all from Waiheke."

What a coincidence #2: Graeme McIntosh's doubtful family likeness might not be as doubtful as he thinks, suggests a reader. "My sisters and I all believe we look nothing alike. But when I was in Melbourne visiting my eldest sister, a woman came up to me [when I was shopping alone] and started saying 'Hi', then realised I wasn't who she thought I was and walked away. Turned out to be one of my sister's friends who thought I was her."

Even more places where the Telecom XT network doesn't work: "At home in Arkles Bay the only place I get reception is on the front window sill," harrumphs a reader. "And if I move it one metre in any direction or answer a call I get no reception. The same working in Gulf Harbour. Telecom's team has been out in their fancy Ford Territory with multiple antennas and have 'adjusted' the signal but there has been no improvement ... perhaps I should move my home and office to a container in the middle of the Hauraki Gulf and join Zoe."

People should not be implicitly saying that Vodafone or 2degrees are better. I live in Titirangi and we have no 2degrees or Vodafone signal. This is pathetic for a major city.

Trish writes: "We have the opposite view to others regarding lack of mobile phone coverage. We've just spent a glorious fortnight in Katherine Bay, Great Barrier Island, with no landline, no TV, no computer and best of all - no cellphone coverage."

Ralph Williams writes: "To the delightful retired couple who for three nights stayed at our lovely Pahi Beach Camp. What a shame you had to dash away so quickly. We hope your sick relatives recover soon. We have some lovely pictures of your tent site and also a copy of your number plate so we might have to send you some copies or perhaps publish them here next week. Just a little matter of $65 which we feel sure you will send ASAP."
