Cameron: "My colleagues and I were given Moro Gold chocolate bars (pictured) from our management team this morning. Judging by the one-liners on the side of the packaging, we're suspicious they've opted for the lower-cost option and given us a substitute from a more affordable Asian supplier ..."
Baking in black
"Can anyone tell me whether the NZ teams wearing black in the heat at the Commonwealth Games are handicapping themselves?" asks Roger. "The women cyclists were pedalling for well over two hours wearing black ... Could a lighter colour have helped in any way? I noticed that the women's hockey team wore white."
Pet sends the wrong message
US police responding to a burglar alarm kill a family's golden retriever, then leave a nice note on their door: "Oakland police responded to your residence to investigate a burglar alarm," reads the note. "While circling the rear perimeter, lab advanced on officers in a threatening manner before being shot and killed." (Source: San Francisco Chronicle)
How to look like Superman
Marks & Spencer is to launch a range of body-enhancing underwear for men. The £15 ($31) "bum lift" underpants promise to raise the posterior by a fifth thanks to seam-free tailoring, while the £10 "frontal enhancement" pants claim to result in a 38 per cent "visual enhancement in size" as a result of an "integral shelf". The new pants will go on sale nationwide on Friday. "These pants provide a real confidence boost for men and we think they will prove popular with our customers," a spokesman said.

Culture has final say
Paul once went on a school trip to view the Maori and Pacific Island artefacts held in storage behind the scenes at the Auckland Museum.
"At the start of the tour the museum curator announced that if any of the female students in our class were having their period, they should wait outside and not view the artefacts. He was quite serious and insistent, and as a result at least one of the girls in my class missed out on the tour. This was the late 1980s and the imposition struck me as both archaic and superstitious."
History alive in the vault
Rita writes: "There are many taonga in the vaults of Te Papa who are made by our ancestors under strict tikanga (one of which is about mate wahine and hapu wahine). Just because they are in a museum does not take away the history and tikanga involved in making them. It is by no means sexist or archaic! Even these days, women who menstruate can't do certain things - so please, perhaps you are the one who is archaic and stuck in the colonial past?"
