Vivien Dostine writes: "Land Transport NZ have just sent me my renewal of driver licence form in the mail. As part of this process I have to produce proof of my address ... While I can take a bank statement, telephone account or other dross, which incidentally I get electronically these days, what is not taken as proof of address is the letter that you have received from LTNZ."

A Dutch online training site about safe sex, featuring short instruction videos, was overloaded last week. The website, called www.vrijlekker.nl (have nice sex), was set up by government health authorities to combat the rise in sexually transmitted diseases in young people. Although they had expected the site would be popular, the traffic surpassed their wildest expectations. So far the site has had nearly 960,000 hits generated by around 60,000 people. A seller has listed a 600ml bottle of "history- making flood water" from Rockhampton on eBay. As residents of the central Queensland city waited for floodwaters to peak, the seller put the "genuine Rockhampton floodwater" up for bids on the website. "This is the real deal, once in a decade oppurtunity [sic] to get some history-making flood water," the sales pitch said. "Don't be fooled by imitation tap water, this is guaranteed to be a slightly muddy texture and a possability [sic] to have a small twig in it." The seller said the water was not being sold to make money. "I'm not doing this for monetary gains - just helping out the community to get rid of some of the excess water." The bottle has attracted only two bids so far, the higher one for US$1.35 ($1.73).

A British police officer took his hands off the wheel and made "thumbs-up" gestures at a speed camera as he raced off to two emergency calls just hours apart. Although the speed limit was 65km/h, David Mayes was captured by the camera driving at 110km/h and 120km/h. He was banned from driving for six months after he pleaded guilty to two counts of careless driving - not for the speeding, which he was legitimately allowed to do, but for the lack of care shown by having both hands off the wheel. Today's Webpick: The latest exercise fad out of the US is The Hawaii Chair, which uses a motor to simulate "the ancient art of the Hula" while watching TV or working at a desk. I have never seen anything so ridiculous. Watch it here. Scroll down.
