KEY POINTS:
A soundbite from the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has been voted the funniest British political quote of the past 50 years. Asked by schoolchildren whether he would like to be prime minister, Johnson replied: "I have as much chance of becoming prime minister as being decapitated by a frisbee or of finding Elvis." The nationwide poll of 2587 people was commissioned by UKTV History. Johnson also made the sixth most amusing quote with: "Yes, cannabis is dangerous, but no more than other perfectly legal drugs. It's time for a rethink, and the Tory party - the funkiest, most jiving party on Earth - is where it's happening."

Hooray to the staff at the Botany lab who were friendly and lovely and happy to have me there for an extra five minutes without complaint."

Final instalment of airborne anecdotes: Martyn Barrett remembers a flight from LA to Orlando with South Western airlines, when the safety instructions were done in a Barry White voice, complete with background music. Simon Wells recalls a rough landing at Auckland on a return flight from Singapore in 2002. "As we were taxiing back to the terminal the captain came over the radio and said, Sorry about the rough landing it ... it was the co-pilot." Another reader alleges, as his plane landed and was coming to a stop at Auckland, a lone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!
