Les Wakley writes: "Rarely am I tempted to get too hot and bothered about much but this really irritates me. Whoever puts the junk mail into my letter box at the end of the drive always leaves the bundle protruding at an angle. Thus, when it rains, the water is channelled into the post box, rendering the junk mail unreadable and forming a puddle in the box; then when the postie delivers (properly, fully into the box) the legitimate mail gets soaked also. Not to mention the fact that the letter box is being slowly destroyed."

Sao Paulo, Brazil, is banning outdoor advertising. The ban, which covers everything from billboards to signs on taxis and buses to fliers passed out on the sidewalk, takes effect at the start of 2008. The law will also regulate the size of store signs. Those who break the law face fines of up to $4500. That's assuming it stands up to court challenges. A provision banning signs flown from aeroplanes has already been struck down. (Source: Reason.com)

A letter to the Sydney Morning Herald reads: "On a trip to Brisbane last weekend my wife, Taylar, found herself in Myer," reports Peter Dowling, of Korora Bay. "In the cosmetics section she spied Ian Thorpe deep in conversation with a shop assistant. Intrigued, she naturally required a closer inspection. Not wishing to appear a stalker, she posed as a distracted purchaser of cosmetics and liberally applied a sample product to her naturally fair hands without taking much notice of anything other than Thorpe. He moved off, and my wife looked down to find that the product that she'd been applying to her hands was a long-lasting, deep-bronze false tan."

The best strippers in the world will be from the UK thanks to a gym in Northumberland offering to teach children as young as 12 how to pole dance. Laraine Riddell will start classes in the new year at a gym in Choppington, in which boys and girls will be taught to spin up and down on a pole. Riddell justifies the stupid idea by claiming it will save tubby children from obesity. But the children's charity Kidscape says pole dancing is traditionally linked to erotic acts in clubs.
