Sue Bailey is nanny to a 4-year-old girl who loves visiting Auckland Museum, especially the "volcano house", where visitors can experience what a volcanic eruption and earthquake might be like. "We visited again recently and along with half a dozen tourists, sat down in the "house" for the experience. However, this time the lights stayed on for the entire time, making the large screen impossible to view. All we could see were our own reflections! When leaving the museum, I asked a staff member why the lights didn't go out as usual and was informed that it was now Occupational Safety and Health policy to keep them on. Heaven help us when OSH discovers movie theatres!"

Laurence swears he can't find Donnor Place in Mt Wellington in the postcode finder, but he knows it exists. "I drive there every day to work. I've run across many missing entries as I try to update our company database. It could be deliberate policy by NZ Post as you can get discounted mailing rates if you can prove your mail has postcodes."

John Lewis from Hamilton reckons the postcode finder on the NZ Post website has another more prophetic use: "Finding out what suburb the house you'd like to buy is really in, rather than the posh one claimed by the seller, and probably encouraged by their agent. I was delighted to find that my Frederick Drive house is in Dinsdale, Hamilton, whereas around the corner in Ellicott Rd, some residents will be surprised to find they are in Nawton."

New Zealand Post regrets Neil Hilford is having trouble finding a postcode for Main Rd, Pukekawa, RD 1, Tuakau. An unnamed corporate entity writes: "There is no 'Main Road' in Pukekawa, at least officially. By official records it's actually Highway 22. If Mr Hilford enters Highway 22 RD 1 Tuakau into the New Zealand Post postcode finder he will be given the postcode 2696. Unfortunately there was insufficient detail in the accompanying item on Harry Porten's experience for us to look into why his attempts to find his daughters' postcodes have been unsuccessful. We do acknowledge some people don't have computer access and, in addition to reference Postcode Directories in PostShops and major public libraries, customers looking for a postcode can ring 0800-501-501 and ask us."
