KEY POINTS:
Police in Torbay, Devon, will hand out jandals to drunken women to help them walk home safely. The women are being offered the chance to swap their high heels for flat shoes to protect themselves from injury. Torbay is a popular venue for stag and hen nights, and other police measures include handing out condoms and sexual health advice, and ordering drunken men who urinate in the street to mop up their own mess. David wondered how other people saw a typical Kiwi Christmas and found this passage on Santas.net, entitled "Christmas Traditions Around the World": "As well people have been forced to change as a result of the Maori culture. The spirits and creatures of the Maori culture resemble the elves and gnomes of European Christmas traditions. They celebrate the story of the birth of Jesus Christ with a special service, which is appropriate to New Zealanders [sic] way of life as they had no motels, and they have many shepherds who take care of their flocks, in doing so they can see the true meaning of Christmas."

Pub quiz writer Carolyn Dobson from Huddersfield, UK, needs your help.
"We decided that every quiz would have one question for which the answer was New Zealand ... Now we find ourselves struggling to find new questions. We've done Kiri Te Kanawa, flags, capital cities, political leaders and Lord of the Rings (sorry!), pretty much every sports team (All Blacks, All Whites, Tall Blacks etc) and the fantastic World Cup win in rugby league (Oh, how we cheered!) ."
