On Wednesday morning, Charlotte, Elizabeth and Timothy woke to fields of snow, while holidaying in Ohakune. With the mountain closed for the day, they seized the opportunity, constructing their masterpiece - a sparkling snowman, complete with chiselled cheekbones and abs named Taylor. The children grew rather attached to their new friend, who because of his large size outlasted all the other snowmen and snow in Ohakune. Carloads of tourists and locals stopped to take his photo. But at 5pm, disaster struck. Charlotte, Elizabeth and Timothy, looked out their window to see their friend gone. Taylor melted, you might think. But the grass was not wet, and the ice that had surrounded him was still solid, but there were the muddy tyre marks on the lawn ... A true friend, taken before his time.
