This photo shows a trap for the unwary in a Paris hotel which caught out Howard from Orakei.
"I had entered the lift suitcase-first as it was so small. On exiting, the landing was in darkness as the light was on sensor. I took about 1 steps back and ended up tumbling down the stairs. Luckily all I suffered was a sprained calf muscle. There was a total lack of interest by hotel staff.
In the United States I could be sitting on a multimillion-dollar fortune, and in NZ they couldn't build it this way."

Keen birdwatcher Janet Davies, 58, from Cornwall travelled 1600km to Norway and spent four weeks trying to spot a rare bird - the snow bunting.
Unfortunately, the bird proved elusive and Mrs Davies returned home - where she found one sitting on her garden fence. There are only around 70 breeding pairs of snow buntings in Europe and they're normally found in mountain ranges.

Rob Buchanan says the third "brother" of these two puppets he made was stolen from Kerikeri, where he was being raffled to raise money for disabled kids in Nepal and Kashmir.
"Can you believe that someone would steal a puppet that had a book of raffle tickets attached to his 'claw' hand? I am sure he will be hanging up in someone's house and will be spotted."

Norman Hogwood of Glendowie writes: "Your piece about the handbag that got caught in the train doors reminded me of the time in the 50s when three mates and I were on holiday in Rimini on Italy's Adriatic coast. One evening, we boarded a bus via the middle door and one of my mates had a leg still outside when the driver closed the door. The four of us thought it was a huge joke but the locals were horrified. The reason why none of us were worried was because it was his wooden leg."
