A reader writes: "A lady working for the Australian branch of our company went to sit on a chair, missed and fell on her tail bone, which was bruised, resulting in a lost-time injury. After investigation, corrective measures were put in place to minimise it happening again. All New Zealand and Aussie employees had chair-sitting instructions and practice added on to their health and safety training."

A reader writes: "Phew! Am I glad I booked through Qantas. I used my partner's middle name, which is the name he uses, to book the ticket to Sydney. Later I realised that the ticketed name and passport name wouldn't match ... Quick phone call to the Qantas and they changed it without any problems, and gratis! Perhaps all airlines should have a warning that pops up in large font and flashes repeatedly for people to use their legal names when booking tickets?"

Final word(s) on schoolboy undergarments: "Oh gee, a singlet that prevents disease - surely this medical breakthrough has been missed by modern science!" declares a sarcastic reader. "Come on, people, you don't get the flu from being cold. You get the flu from being around other people who have the flu, or as the boffins like to call it, 'crowding'. If you don't want to get sick, become a hermit! Yes, the uniform rules can be a bit archaic but they do teach discipline, but let's not use fallacious arguments to further causes as it makes us all look ignorant!"

Tony Carey writes: "Your brief articles regarding singlets in schools are embarrassing because of the lack of research and journalistic integrity. Maybe it is because you are a woman and don't understand the difference between a singlet and a T-shirt. I know of no schools that ban singlets; indeed, students would be expected to wear them. The issue is with T-shirts, which show above the collar and are often to be seen with sleeves hanging below the shirt sleeves, giving an untidy layered look."

Is this you at the Zoo? "Someone left a bag on my doorstep," writes a perplexed Miguel. "With a camera and other items." Please email miqueld@xtra.co.nz, describing the content for the bag's safe return.

John Morris, headmaster of Auckland Grammar School, writes: "Boys are indeed allowed to wear singlets, however they must not show under their shirts. The school in fact sells V-neck blue polyprop singlets for boys to wear and a number have already purchased these. Boys are not allowed to wear round-necked T-shirts that are visible underneath the shirt."

A reader wonders: "Is a flash of white cotton singlet, peaking coyly out from under a shirt, really such a transgression? Surely what all parents want is simply an affordable uniform which keeps kids warm, dry and comfortable."
