Abour 200 pre-teens in London were given pedometers to count how many steps they walked, as part of a study into obesity. The study required 11- and 12-year-olds to clip a pedometer to their waists, with researchers at the Mile End Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine collecting the readings by satellite. Researchers were surprised by the activity levels recorded in some obese children; further investigation revealed some had attached their pedometer to their family pets. (Source: BBC News)
